“It's like everyone tells a story about themselves inside their own head. Always. All the time. That story makes you what you are. We build ourselves out of that story.”

It all started when...

I entered the world back in the late 80's. But I'm guessing that story is too long to tell in an 'About Me' section.

I am a culturally confused woman whose feet stand in Jakarta but whose heart traverses the earth (and gets snagged in Seattle every once in a while). A multi-tasker by nature, I'm drawn to diverse subjects. My areas of study in undergraduate and graduate school clearly testify to this fact. One can also tell from reading my writings that I deeply enjoy these variants in my life.

Coffee brings joy to my heart (and feeds my ever-nagging addiction), but I enjoy the drug even more when coupled with conversations with people. My day job is working as a youth pastor at an international church in Jakarta, but in my spare time I moonlight as a writer and avid Netflix-binger. I love the fall, yet I live in a country with only two seasons (wet and less wet). I am unmarried and currently un-dating. I'm an only child with numerous extra siblings and friends who have permanently wriggled their way into my heart. Complicated? You bet.

If one would like to venture into the deep recesses of my mind (where all the stories live), imagine being in an underground dungeon of a castle, where one can never be certain what one would find behind a bolted iron door.

Obviously, there are more to me than what I have written out here. But let's be honest. It's kind of awkward describing yourself to people. So I'll just let you come to your own conclusions.

That's all she wrote,
